Rebecca Croxford

Accredited Mental Health Social Worker / Director and Founder

Rebecca is the director of Treehouse Child and Perinatal Services and an experienced accredited mental health social worker, clinical supervisor, consultant and trainer with over 15 years experience. Rebecca has worked extensively with children, young people and their families in various roles within non-government and education sectors.

Rebecca found a passion for working with children and families early in her career and study when her brother was diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. She is a mother of 3 children and also has a child with complex special needs and understands the pressure this can have on families as well as the child.

Rebecca’s counselling style draws from a range of frameworks including psychotherapy, person centered therapy, trauma informed therapy, creative and play based approaches, attachment theory, cognitive behaviour therapy, strengths based approaches and solution focused therapy.

Rebecca uses a number of mediums such as art, principles of play and symbol work in her practice. These modalities are expressive ways to create significant internal shifts and allows the client a non verbal way of communicating their inner thoughts and feelings.

Rebecca believes in developing a therapeutic connection with clients and holding space to start where the client is at taking a unique approach to each individual, based on their age and specific needs.

As a therapist Rebecca is caring, gentle and welcoming, assisting her clients to settle in and feel safe and comfortable before and during sessions. Rebecca is focused and intentional in her approach, and seeks to be empowering, energetic and fun with the women, children and families she works with. Rebecca go’s the extra mile to ensure she meet’s the needs of her clients and respectfully works alongside you to find an approach that is tailored to you as an individual.

Qualifications

  • Accredited Mental Health Social Worker and Professional Member of Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).

  • Certificate in Guided Drawing, Institute For Sensorimotor Art Therapy.

  • Certificate in Perinatal and Infant Mental Health, Centre for Perinatal Psychology.

  • Certificate in Clinical Supervision, Bouverie Centre and La-Trobe University.

  • Certificate in Child Inclusive Dispute Resolution, Family Transitions Organisation  

  • Certified Youth Mentor, Shine From Within

Qualified facilitator of;

  • Friends for Life Program

  • ABCD Parenting Young Adolescents Program,

Abigail Sweeting

Administrative Assistant

Hello! My name is Abigail, I am currently studying a Bachelor of Education to become a teacher.

I have worked in allied health administration for the past 5 years and am excited to join the Treehouse team! I have also worked with children for the past 5 years as a sports coach and program co-ordinator and have a passion for children and their mental health. After having my first baby this year I also have a newfound interest in perinatal mental health.

My fiancé is a teacher and along with him, our daughter and puppy I live out in beautiful Culcairn!

I am very excited to be working at Treehouse Child and Perinatal Services with Rebecca. I aim to be supportive, caring and understanding and look forward to meeting everyone (virtually) over the coming months.
